How To Clean Your Gas Hob Between Professional Cleaning Appointments
In our opinion, nothing beats the appearance of a sparkling clean oven!
And when an oven is clean inside and out, it functions as it should and food tastes better when cooked.
But this isn’t the case with a dirty oven.
Whether you have a small electric oven, a range or an Aga, if you don’t have your oven professionally cleaned then food particles, oil and grease become baked on to the inside of the oven and glass, leaving it unsightly and unhygienic.
Whilst we’re obviously hug advocates for getting your oven professionally cleaned on a regular basis, it is also wise to keep on top of hygiene and so here is how we advise you reduce the build up of grime and grease and keep your hob looking its best.
Use a natural oven cleaning cleaner rather than harsh chemicals
If your oven hasn’t been cleaned in a long time we recommend giving us a call to assess the damage and if the grease is baked on then it is highly likely you will need our services.
But if your oven isn’t too bad and you’re looking to maintain your hob in between professional cleans then we recommend using natural ingredients rather than harsh shop bought chemicals which can potentially cause damage.
Baking soda, white vinegar and lemon juice are pretty effective natural cleaners for most ovens.
How to clean your gas hob
Firstly, make sure any electrical points are switched off.
Remove the racks and tops and place in warm soapy water in the sink to soak while you tackle the main hob surface.
The, using a damp cloth, wipe up as much grime as possible from the cooker hob and gas rings.
Apply a natural cleaning solution or your choice of product directly to the hob using a spray bottle or cloth and leave it dwell for a couple of minutes before beginning to wipe it off with a clean damp cloth. Repeat the process as many times as needed until the hob is looking lovely and clean.
Now the debris on your racks and tops should be easier to remove after soaking and so grab a brush or cloth and clean them until all debris has been removed. Once clean rinse under clean running water and let dry before returning to the hob.
Lastly, give the surface and competes a buff with a dry clean cloth to add the finishing sparkle!
